Five white men run, cross the floor, huddle. In pairs they fight, rub, struggle against one another. In a circle they stand, rotate, kneel. They dip their hands into a bowl and draw up milk, draw up berries. They exhale. Their breath is dust.

A satirical work which chronicles the adventure of Little Black Topsy as she goes in search of an enchanted soap which will change her skin from black to white.
Fully immersed in the grotesquerie of the minstrel form, Disney iconography, and the Exotica musical genre, LITTLE BLACK TOPSY uses cultural pastiche to explore the complex relationship between black girls and whiteness.

A wooden chair is dimly illuminated by a cold, white light. The performer, legs bound to two decayed fence posts with strips of cotton, enters the space, dragging herself along the ground with her hands. Wrestling with her immobilized legs, the performer engages with the chair, fruitlessly attempting to sit.
